T minus 8

Lea, Mike, Tracy, Linda, Brent and Birthday boy Lee did 12, 5, 10, 4, 17.85, 10 today and then ate breakfast at Friendly's. Mike's running a 5K ("Enough") tomorrow. Lea's doing the Cheshire 1/2 on Ultra Day but may be able to fit in a volunteer stint at the Ultra in the late afternoon. Mike, Emmy, maybe Marty and Rose (who's coming back Tuesday) will do a loop or two with us on Sunday. Brent is running the Seaside Shuffle 5 miler on Saturday.

T minus 8 baby. Taper city.

April 21st

Woops. Almost forgot. Here's what I know about tomorrow. Brent, who has almost run out of excuses for bagging Providence, is starting @ 7. Me and Tracy (sorry Mom) are starting @ 8. Mike is being very wishy washy about when and for how long but will be part of it. He's running a 5K on Sunday. Don't know what Lea's plans are. Somebody is entering a new division tomorrow and to celebrate there's talk of heading over to the Friendly's in Unionville post run. That same somebody got a letter from Natural Balance Therapeutic Massage saying the "Brickyarders" think a 1 hour massage might be awesome. Thanks whoever you are. I love you. Lee

JBLWU

In 9 days ... a couple of us are going to do an out and back (total of 4.4 miles) and then we're going to run (6) CCW loops (each of which is 7.6 miles). We'd enjoy and very much be helped if anyone reading this would jump in, especially when there are, say, 2 laps to go, and join us. Earlier company is welcome too!

Rose Wins Her Divsion at the Shark's Tooth 10K!

Rose writes

I had a great race. I met a beautiful 9-year-old girl. We ran together the whole race. She is a special little girl and I will miss her. She comes from a family of 5 runners. Miss you guys.

Re: [Brickyarders] Tomorrow

I will be at Brickyard at 7 a.m. also.  I feel so bad for everyone running Boston.  Let's hope that's not us in 2 weeks, 2 days!

Pray for Boston weather forecast being wrong.

Re: [Brickyarders] Re: [Brickyarders] Countdown to JBLWU and today's run

Harsh words but, no doubt, I was definitely sucking wind today.  Appetite has returned so no worries.  Ankles and body hurt though.  Five miles tomorrow sounds like 20 to me right now.  I'll be running late in the day after the Hibachi feast.

Happy Easter everyone!

Tracy No Racy :-(

P.S.  I would've felt better but Brent selfishly refused to share his inhaler.

Sadly, the run once again proved that despite the encouragement from Lee and me, the "woman" from Plantsville continues to be a mid-distance slug.

Mike made it this morning and did 3 out and 3 back so he's officially off the disabled list. Slackin' deceived us by feigning an Exercise-Induced Asthma attack early on and then left Tracy and Lee in the dust in the last 1/2 mile. This all happened after Lee showed everybody how to fall, roll, get up and keep running and Tracy (or was it Brent?) knocked Mari (who made a surprise appearance w/ Beth) off her bike.

We're pretty worried about RT who turned down multiple food offerings at the end of the 22 mile run. This is not our beloved Tray for whom food is, next to air, the sine qua non of life. She also described a product Lee discovered on the internet as "stupid"

but later admitted she and Barry were considering buying a lifetime supply of organic pop tarts (I think that's what her "stupid" product was).

So ... Mr. Brent is Providence-bound in a month, Lee and Tracy are Lake W. bound in 3 weeks, Lea is getting her workout by destroying kitchens, Rose will be back just in time to do a couple of loops on the 29th, Mari is having her knee fixed and has her eye on Hartford full, Tracy promises a full report on her two day Newport jaunt and

it just doesn't get better than this.

Tomorrow

To my most awesome friends,

Looks like Lea, Tracy, Brent, Lee and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe Mike will run Brickyard tomorrow. We're going to try a multiple start time to maximize the time we all can run w/ each other. Not sure how far Lea wants to go but do know that the ultra / full guys need to start @ 7 AM to get in what they have planned (that would be 24). So, here's the plan: they will do an out and back of about 6.6 miles, arriving @ the parking lot @ 8 AM (which is Lea's desired start time). We'll all run an out and back that totals what Lea wants and then keep running till our watches say 24.

Mr. Mike; hope you are feeling better and look forward to seeing you and running w/ you if you can.

Lee

Oleksak Lumber 1/2 and Danbury 1/2

For more pix and commentary, go to

http://primepuzzle.com/tpf/oleksak-half-2012.html

Two Brickyarders chopped 4+ minutes off their 1/2 marathon times today. That would be Lea Crown, who took care of the Danbury 1/2 in 2:01:09 (9:17 pace), and Tracy Vroeginday, who ran the Oleksak Lumber 1/2 in 1:48:29 (8:17 pace) (1:52:39 last year).

Mr. Brent Stratton, who was unfairly aided by a talisman provided by Ms Vroeginday's cat Mo as well as a beautiful Bible which provided pre-race inspiration, managed an impressive 1:40:25 (7:40).

Lee ran 1:48:10 (compared to 1:47:40 last year). We've been analysing the mathematics of it all and with Tray knocking off 4 minutes and Lee adding 1/2 minute things don't look good at all for Mr Bradley in 2013.
