Brickyarder Bonanza - Hartford Track Club Quarter Marathon

Brickyarder Bonanza! Tray placed at the 1/4 marathon. (There is no double dipping and Shannan Havens was in the top 3 female finishers. She is in Tray's age division. So ... Tray made it!) So did Lee. We both ran faster than last year and Tray narrowed the gap between our finishes from 20 seconds to 5. Mike easily broke an hour, his goal. Lani really crushed it, crossing in 49:55. Lea was all 1's (1:01:11). Rose ran the best 5K she's run in the last 2 years (results not out yet but it was 27 minutes and very low seconds (like 1 or 2)) at the Life in the Son 3 race in Florida.

Venice 8K, Traprock 10 miler, Holyoke 10K

Rose placed, Tray PRd(!!!), Brent clocked 7:19, Taricani did 10 miles on rocks and Lee, well, hmmmm, ran an 8:19 pace.

Don't know what Rose's time was but here's what she posted on Facebook.

This isn't Mike but these are the rocks he climbed.

We had a guy take our picture before the race but unfortunately *all* pix on my camera showed up missing when I tried to look at them on getting home. Here are our times.

Looks like Lea'll be our sole representative

Let's see ...

Lee, Tray and Brent are racing tomorrow in Holyoke. Mike was ditched by Tray for a Saturday Brickyard run so may do some trail work tomorrow and then will do the Max 5k on Sunday. Rose is doing an 8k in Venice, Florida. Lea wanted to do the regular Brickyard 7:30 long run but will go later since it looks like nobody'll be there. So ... Have a great weekend everybody and run fast!

Calling all Brickyarders

Same time (7:30). Same place (Brickyard). Same event (running). Hope you can make it! Rumor has it that Mike may be AWOL (doing some trail running at Traprock). Hoping to see Ms Crown and Ms Doolittle. Momma Rose is in Florida getting a tan. Tray and Lee will try to make today / tomorrow at 38 mile total. Brent is going long I expect. Linda is working so won't be there. What will we do w/o banana muffins?

I have just completed Dean Karnazes' "Ultramarathon Man." I want very much to tell you everything that precedes this page and everything that follows this page. But you're going to have to work for it. Thanks Tray for giving me this book.

The Key To Life

On my way back from my run this morning I saw my favorite Garelick Farms truck ad. And when I googled on "the key to life" I discovered what Will Smith had to say about it. This is the best I could do to show you what I saw on the truck.

The key to life is what you add to it. Add something.

YouTube will show you what Will said.

Re: [Brickyarders] Inaugural Brickyard March Madness Marathon

Hysterical - love it! :-D

An annual event, the inaugural took place yesterday under the stars, make that in the warm, sunny, light breezy, dry, make that drizzly, cold, ice-strewn, grey skies we all know and love as Brickyard. Mike Taricani has already signed up for the 2nd annual. Lea Crown, suffering from the aftereffects of getting the very first demerit ever issued by the board for her "don't do rain" attitude is attending behaviour modification therapy classes in hopes she'll be ready for next year. (She did, we must say, a full 10 on the dreadmill, so she is forgiven for this lapse.)

Slavedriver Stratton eked out a mere 22 (albeit quick last two) while the arithmetically challenged Ms Tray and Mr Bradley made the event-creating split second decision to make the unrememberable  25+ mile distance an even marathon by tacking on an out and back.

The event will be catered by Momma Rose and Miss Linda who delivered maximum pulp OJ, Vitamin water and Banana Muffins.

Rose and Mike ran 13+ and Abby ran a bit less since she knew she would run possibly the full 18 in Sunday's Northern Nipmuck Trail.

Of the conversations that took place, whether one's cat or dog will cuddle, what one gets when one loses 25 pounds or might get if one loses an additional 4 pounds, what comes next in the sequence 0 3 18 69 228 711 ..., how to get a pot luck party that comes two weeks after a 50 mile ultra and one week after the Providence Marathon to take place at Tray and Barry's place come to mind.

It may be wet but let's go for it. 7:30 AM. Abby's doubling, short w/ us then trail running on Sunday. Mike's good for 10. Tray and Lee are going long (24) and Brent will be close to that. Rose may start a bit later than 7:30 if the weather doesn't cooperate. Lea "doesn't do rain" so she's probably dreadmill  bound.

Sorry about the junk mail that sometimes arrives here. These are the drawbacks to having open posting. I just delete 'em the minute they show up. Remember when Lani commented "Nice watches, tho" after the Rolex ads came in?

I think we need a picture of what we'll not see tomorrow but maybe it'll serve to show us what surely will eventually grace our runs.
