King of Pain

This is a 10 miler in Glastonbury. I'd heard of it and when my friend Amy Cicccarillo said she'd run it I decided to go. Wanda, Michelle and Adam made it. Met the winner (Mary Alex) at the Pot Luck after.

Managed a 9:30 pace. Hmmm. Here are some after race pix I took.

The weekend

Well, the weather forecast for tomorrow morning looks baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Hmmm. Not happy. Was going to suggest all who could make it show up at Reservoir 3 at 10:10 to join Lee, Amy Ciccarillo and other 169ers and a new fellow who's expressed interest in the Brickyarders (Casey Thomas). But, unless things change in the forecast, that ain't gonna happen.

On Sunday, Joe and Tray have plans to run from home to Hubbard Park, up the hill, down the hill and back home. A mere 22 or so. I think Lea's doing Castle Craig too. Mike's doing this one too. But he's *just* doing the 10k. He's going to try and beat the storm tomorrow and get some miles in. He's on his "who can run the most miles in January" mission.

On Sunday as well, Lee, Wanda, Michelle, Karen and Linda (not all in one car!) are heading South to run the 5 miler in Milford. Lee's on the HTC 60+ racing team so he'll try to place. Reupped USATFCT because you need to be a member to count in Grand Prix races.

Next Saturday, January 31, King of Pain 10 miler. Free. Glastonbury.

"This will be an informal, hand-timed, no-frills race: no entry fee, no T-shirts, no mile markers or screaming fans, just bragging rights and the satisfaction of conquering Glastonbury’s most demanding course."

Peoples Forest 2015

Mike, Tray and Lani ran it. Lani directed it. Lee and Karen Armillei Prado volunteered. Wanda drove Andy Zyrek, Karen and Lee to it (and ran 2 loops!). David Reik timed it and posted the results on coolrunning.com. Peter Hawley helped in many ways. The 169 Society constituted a large fraction of those who ran. Very, very tough day to run. Well done everybody!!!

-22º RealFeel

I know Lea and Tray are totally into this competition but I feel Chip and Lee need some motivation. So ...

to cool things down a bit, we'll add a flurry of reminders in the coming days that may get these slackers out there. Just think, if I were to lace up right now and head out I'd absolutely *crush* the BTMD / WCA (Brickyarders' Temperature Monitoring Department's / Wind Chill Award) record book.

Brrrrrr!

Chip and Tray are in "I'm thinkin' Greek Pastry mode." As I venture out this morning, after collecting gloves, winter hat, my "looses" (what I call my tights cuz they're loose), multiple layers up top etc. etc. etc.

I will keep what Dean Karnazes has to say about Winter running in mind.
