Boston 2018
.
Best of luck to brother Chip Bradley on Monday next at the Boston Marathon! He has trained well, is tapering now, has his eye set on sub-4. We will be following you as you run the course.
This is what he posted on Facebook.
Hi
all. I will be running Boston on Monday, 4/16. It's been a tough
winter, but I've kept up with the training and have been making some
adjustments to see if I can improve on last year's time.
To follow me on your smart phone or computer, you can:
1. Log into BAA.ORG (the morning of the marathon)
2. Select ATHLETE TRACKING
3. Enter my name as: Charles Bradley
4. Enter my bib number: 24531
Note: My wave begins its race at 11:15 am (when I actually cross the START line... which could be roughly 5 minutes later).
This will be my last marathon, but I'm feeling it might go well (we hope)! The time needed for the usual Boston Marathon qualification is 4:10:00 for men in my age group (65-69) I will be turning 69 on April 23.
My time last year was 4:05:39.
The ave pace for a 4:10:00 marathon is 9:33 per mile.
The ave pace for a 4:05:39 marathon is 9:23 per mile.
I will be trying to improve my time of 4:05:39. I'd be very happy with anything under 4:04:00. The heat was pretty high last year so I would be pleased with cooler weather and maybe a time close to 3:59:59 or under!.
Three days ago, I began "tapering" for the race. It feels good to be running less miles!
I will be posting the results here sometime after the marathon.
Have a happy Patriots Day! Thanks for checking out my progress! I believe the GPS updates will take place every 5k or every 3.1 miles for the 26.2 mile course.
