Happy New Year Everybody!

Here's a little Meteor Shower I wrote. Click the link below the image to see it.

I think the snowflake option may be cooler than the meteor shower itself.

May 2012 be good to all of us. Tray has set a standard for us that's worth emulating: write down your personal goals for each distance you run and publish it somewhere.

Norfolk Pub 10 Miler

http://greystoneracing.net/pages/Race%20Results%202011/Norfolk%2012.17.11.txt

Our camera chip filled up so we got very few pix. Linda helped at the finish line, took the few pix we got, drove us to and from the race. Rose took a few pix at the pub so stay tuned. Tracy ran

105 Tracy Vroeginday 39 F Plantsville CT HTC 1:31:36 9:10

I ran

66 Lee Bradley 69 M Newington CT 1:21:29 8:09

Rose's pace was 10:44. Brent had a rough one but finished.

If you click the picture and look real hard, Tray, Brent, Rick Konon and Rose are visible. Will Graustein took finish line pix and mid course pix so, again, stay tuned. Marc Robaczynski placed 3rd w/ a 5:36 pace so I guess you now know what a competitive field there was.
Here's what my Garmin said.

This course is very hilly, both up and down. The hill at mile 7/8 is very tough. But for every up there is a down. I love this course. It was great to run a lot of it with Catherine Lyons and Emmy Stocker and Tim Hawley. Peter Hawley placed 2nd in my division. I placed 3rd. The guy that beat us ran a 7:06 pace. I can't WAIT till April 21st, 2012. I turn 70. 8 days later, Jack Bristol Lake Waramaug Ultras!

Tray runs Roxbury in 4:18:17

Tray ran her 2nd fastest marathon this morning in Roxbury. I joined her at mile 19 and ran the last two loops. She told me when it was over that it was "the hardest marathon she'd ever run" and had to dig deep in the last miles. I did not know how much she hurt and am very very impressed by her strength and perseverance. She looked smooth all the time I was running.

Chuck "Marathon Junkie" Engle of Coos Bay, Oregon won it in 2:43:59, bettering his last year's time by a couple of minutes. His time last year was a course record. He indicated the record he set today would last 365 days. His goal is to WIN a marathon in every state. Real nice guy. I chatted w/ him briefly.

I met Chris Deming, the race director. There were about 100 runners (130 registrants). Sara Dickinson-Belles and Emmy Stocker ran it. Croix Sather (http://www.dreambigactbig.com/) did 2 extra loops. I met him at last year's Petit race. I bought his book and asked him to sign it and gave it to Tray.

He wrote:

Congratulations Tray. You should be very proud. I think Benny's wrist sweat band helped. Wash it, give it back to him, plunk yourself in a comfy chair and rest!

Lee

I expect results and pix will be posted on the Roxbury Facebook page shortly. Here's the link:

New "Dreadmill" Routine

Couldn't help but think of Lea and Brent when I saw this. Perhaps they can spice up their "dreadmill" routines a bit. LOL!

Late Breaking! Pix from Rose and a correction: Judi got placed in the wrong age group and actually placed 1st in her age group. So Judi's results SHOULD HAVE READ

Here are the two pix Rose sent us ...

Rose and Judi ran Mitten, Lee, Mandy, Paul, Flo, Peter, Steve, Carolyn, Ray ran Santa's. As many Brickyarders don't know probably half the people above, I'll fill in the details below. They had me down as a Female and in this division I placed 1st. (This happened last year as well, what's with the computer people?!). Once I got my sex change
(it's easy!)
Flo Dickie and Barrie Robbins placed 2nd and 1st in the F60-69 division.
I now placed 6th.
Ray Prest got 1st in the 70s division.
Ray Prest, Steve Tolman and I looked like so after the race (Linda took the pictures).

Mandy started @ the back of the pack (I started at the front). She came in just behind me.

and placed 3rd. Go Mandy!

Peter placed 3rd

Rose may provide photos of Blue Back Mitten run. Paul Argazzi was handling both little Annie Rose

and live Mitten progress reports. Rose and Judi placed 3rd and 1st. Go Rose. Go Judi!

We apologize that we didn't get pix of Carolyn Nielson, Charlie Whynacht (1st in the 60s!), Barrie Robbins (Charlie's daughter) and Flo Dickie. Something about taking pictures indoors and our camera setting.

Vroeginday Victorious!

Tinsel Fun Run Saturday December 3, 2011

Brent placed 2nd runner up in his division with a time of 13:45 (6:53 pace).

Tracy came in 1st runner up in her division today at the 27th annual Tinsel Fun Run in Berlin. Her pace was 7:38. This is a 1.95 mile race with a substantial hill that lasts for about .5 miles. She was interviewed and will appear on the New Britain-Berlin YMCA Facebook page! Here's my Garmin capture.
This was Tray's very first trophy in her entire running career. Waydago Tray!
Many other friends ran today. Here's what Linda's camera saw.

Andrew (Captain Seedpod Hook)

The complete results are at

Lee, Tray, Carolyn.

Tracy coming in.

Yours truly, finishing. 2nd runner up. 14:11 (7:05 pace).

Dacey was lead Amigo w/ a time of 13:28 (6:44 pace).

Mr Chaves could not be caught (at least by me). He was a very confident runner. Brent got past him at the very end, but only by 10 seconds.

Bob picking up his hardware

Carolyn ran 18:29 (9:15 pace) and got her race paid for twice w/ a $20 gift certificate from Dick's Sporting Goods.
