Moose sighting and more

This Saturday  Barbara, Rose, Lee, Mary, and Lani met for 8 at the Brickyard.  Kudos to Mary, this was her first 8 mile run ever!!!!  No one was really sure if it was an Elk, Antelope or Moose, but we all sure saw something out there...

Next weekend will be filled with racing: Jamie's Run  5K in Wethersfield and NYC Marathon, both on 11/7.  Good luck to everyone in their events.

Looking ahead, several members of the group are planning to run the 8K XC challenge in West Hartford on 11/20 and in a break from the Manchester tradition, the Malibu Fitness 5K @ 7 (yes that's 7 am) in Farmington on Thanksgiving Day.

The Brickyarders are also tentatively planning The Hogsback Re-Do Half Marathon Challenge for the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.  We can run early, to make time for family events but it will be a good way to run off your T-day overindulgences. Highlights for the event will include Lani's Homemade PR Gel at designated aide stations - sure to boost your time.  One never knows, but there is the potential of a moose sighting as well.  Possible award categories to include:

**Do-Over Champs M/F: Runners with the Biggest  time discrepancies between September and November Events

**Fastest Smart Runners M/F: open only to those who wisely skipped the September event

**The Achilles Awards:  Several subdivisions in this one for runners with pulled hamstrings, piraformis problems, sciatica, hairline fractures, joint pains, allergies and asthma, and mysterious undiagnosed ailments

**Open to suggestions for other categories

Warning: anyone who runs slower than their original Hogsback time in September will have to proceed to the finish line, and re-run the entire course in reverse while running backwards!

Lee, should we wear our Halloween costumes for this run?

Brickyard this Saturday

You are invited to join the Brickyarders this Saturday at 7:30 for an 8+ mile run. As it is getting near Daylight Saving Time we will be changing the time to 8:00 in a couple of weeks.

We "Fall back" at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November by setting our clock back one hour and thus returning to Standard Time. This year, the first Sunday is November 7th.

Sunday November 7th is also Ms Famiglietti's jour de naissance and the date of Jamie's Run in Old Wethersfield.

Eddie's Day

We ran between 3 and 7.5 miles before gathering 'round Eddie's bench. We talked for a while about our friend and how important he is and was to us. Here are a few pictures. There was talk of making this an annual event and Carolyn Lloyd is already shining up her coffee pot!

Lee took it home @ MDI ! Rose ran the first 10 as a bandit, and Linda was Team Primal Force's fearless leader. We came, we saw, & showed 'em how it's done!
Handed off to Lee in 1:52.35 on a super hilly course, and he's off to a flying start! See you at the finish Lee!

MDI Marathon Relay

Acadia National Park

The sun is not up yet on Mount Desert Island, but Team Primal Force ready to roll, race start 1hr 45 minutes. Yesterday's storms have apparently moved on, should have some scenic vistas of Acadia on the run.

Saturday report

Rose, Lani, Kelsey and Lee did 8+ this morning at Brickyard. Fall is most definitely here; leaves and twigs and acorns bestrewed the trail, slowing Rose down initially, who worried she'd slip. We ran into Lori and her friend on our way back. Great to see her!

Counting down to Hartford. Kelsey would like to do in the low 1:40s. He put in a few miles before we arrived and looked strong today. Lani sported a Camelbak.

There's a 5K on Rose's birthday, November 7, 2010 in Old Wethersfield. 100% of the proceeds for Jamie's Run will go to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
