Life Without Limits 5K
On June 15th (a Saturday) there's a 5K in Manchester that supports United Cerebral Palsy that my friend Wanda Hodsen told me about. Team Hoyt will be there. I've signed up. It's the day before the Fathers' Day Branford 5 Miler (yet another double opportunity). There's a way to sign up that costs $17.

The course includes some trail sections. If you are interested and can get 4 people to sign up together it will cost only a total of $45.

Delaney Dash
It was great to see Dave and Barbara today! Tray pulled off an 8 minute pace. Not bad for somebody who ran 67 a week ago. Let me rephrase that. Spectacular. I could see her the whole race. But could not catch her. Brent ran 28 and high change ( I think.) The guy is awesome right now. Both he and Tray have some 5K in mind for next weekend. I didn't run particularly fast but I'm happy w/ my 33:26. The two guys in my division in front of me were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay in front (28+ and 29+). Rose ran a 9:30 or so pace. It was fairly dry but the wind in the face on the return trip was a bit of a challenge. It was cold and windy waiting after the race was over for the awards.
Anybody want to join me and run the East Hartford Memorial Mile on Monday?
Well done everybody!

Earl's taken up jogging!
What's your current fitness routine these days? Are you dog tired? Or dog inspired? The dog days are coming! Get ready for 'em. Next on tap: Delaney Dash. Well attended, out and back 4 miler. A beautiful run over a causeway. Swans on both sides. Old Saybrook. This Saturday. Brickyarders, I think we can count on a good fraction of us to be there.

Call to Brickyard!
Looks like Brent, Rose and Lee are in. You? 7 AM. Brickyard Rd parking lot. Anything from 10 to 17 has been "approved."
As we set out, one hour later, our very own Tracy Lee Zagata Vroeginday will set out on the journey of a century. 100 miles / 24 hours. Our thoughts will be with you all day, all night and into the next morning. On Sunday morning at 8 AM you will finish and the three Brickyarders mentioned above (Rose, you *gotta* do it) one hour later will run the Newington Library 5K Challenge.

Ocean Beach
Bob sent this to Lea who sent it to me. This is one of the oldest races in Connecticut. This will be the 51st running.
Thanks Lea.

Runners:
If you are training for a longer race in the Fall, this is a great race to go to as part of your training. It is on Saturday August 3rd at Ocean Beach Park in New London. It is a "FREE" race and you get into Ocean Beach Park for free also. You can bring the whole family and have a free day at the beach. Send it the attached application with a return envelope for your race number to be mailed to you. The race number gets you in and out of the park. Use your race number for their big raffle after the race and have a great day at the beach for the cost of 2 postage stamps. I normally train for this race but having knee surgery next week may put a damper on running the race. Regardless, I could just go for the fun and the sun.
If you have any questions on the race, please contact me.

Race in the Park
(Previously included link to results removed. I put up last year's results and then realized my mistake.)
Full results not up yet but ...
Brent has every reason to be proud. 22:08.
Rose, who's been talking 30 minutes, managed 28:57 (I think) and placed in her division.
Lee, well, hmmm, well, hmmm, 27:30. However ... got 1st in my division. Show up. Be "old." Almost always works. Give me 8 days. I won't catch Brent but I'll run 5 minutes quicker.
It was like old home week. Amy Mueller (ran with us a couple of years ago and duked it out with Rose in the final moments), KC Klett (in fireman's uniform, helping out, coming back slowly), Tom Walsh (25 something), Lori Riley, Kelsey Cabral (ran well), Beth Frugale (is a survivor, gave Linda her pink shirt, was in the top 3 survivors and says Mari is doing well).
Chip ran a 5K somewhere today. Stay tuned.
We missed Tray. But thought of her. Smart move.

Linda's pix. The best for last.

Good luck in New Britain!
Looks like at least 4 of us will be running the 5K at Walnut Park tomorrow morning so ... good luck!
Tray is in need of pretty much a constant Anti Rain Dance for the coming week so her 24 hour / 100 mile will be as dry as possible. So ... please take care of this.
Mike will run locally and Lea said she's a Sunday Brickyard run possible. Tomorrow she'll be busy w/ a Meriden 5K she has been helping organize.
The Eastern flank of the Brickyarders (that would be Chip) ran 6 @ an 8:51 pace the other day and has his eye on the Hartford 1/2. Not only is 6 a whole number (as opposed to his earlier distances like 3.241) but it is substantially bigger than recent distances so ... Tray approves and so do we all. Well done.

Lea and Mike finish Redding Half!
Mike put this up on Facebook.
Lea finishing the race. We had to run through the barn to get to the finish line. Great race on a very hilly but beautiful course. My time was 2:07:14.

Re: Hartford Track Club Newsletter
Kelly,
Thanks so much for all you do. It was such a pleasant surprise to see my photo in the email associated w/ the current newsletter. Your brief overview of Boston, important upcoming races and the new use of MailChimp just proves once again that you know how to do it right.

Welcome Home Rosi :) Call to Brickyard!
We'll be starting at the Brickyard Road / Greenway parking lot at 7 AM this Saturday. Hope to see you there. Brent was to run a 5K at Rentschler Field but decided to run longer w/ us. Yay. Must be saving himself for the Race in the Park 5K in New Britain. Tray's going long but it looks like not as long as she originally planned. Mike may make a cameo appearance and do 4 to 5. He's running w/ the cows in Redding w/ Lea in Sunday's 1/2.
Rose finally decided to come home from Florida and will be running. Lori Rosenburg has expressed an interest in rejoining us. I'll shoot her an email to tell her we look forward to seeing her.
I've been a slug for a while, coming down with a cold. So I won't be breaking any speed / distance records but I'll be there.
Tim and Adam may finally meet a few more of us.
Other races I've heard about: Ragnar Relay this weekend. BEER MARATHON - Starts 9am Saturday May 18th. Anyone entered in the 24, 48, or 72 hour races may enter. Sri?
