Lani about to start 2nd loop.

Lee entering 2nd loop.

Lani did "32 something" (about 8 min. pace) and Lee 36:25 (about 9). A lot of people came and decided not to run because it was pretty icy. Rose wisely chose to walk w/ Linda. It was gorgeous out but you really had to be careful. A couple of people fell but didn't get hurt. I'd say fewer than 25 ran it.

Post race photo. Peter, Lani, Rose, Linda and Lee.

  1. Wow, congratulations Lee and Lani! Awesome race - and on ice no less. I've been slipping and sliding all over my driveway lately - I can't imagine trying to run on that kind of terrain in a race. What a beautiful day though.

  2. Lee thanks for your race report. Sorry I missed Saturday's group run, but had to go to the dentist. Had fun at the race, which I guess was won by a guy pushing two children in a stroller, up and down the icy hills of the course. I heard he just did the Ironman World Championships in Kona. His wife was right behind him. I ran most of the way with a guy who calls himself King Archibald (no kidding!). We were not running too fast, and had a some good conversations. He said he has run every single day for over 12 years. I think he would have beaten me in the end, but took a painful looking dive on the ice right around mile 3. I seriously doubted my sanity at the start of this one, and in the last mile or so when I ran down the icy hill, past the tombstones, and sliding downhill into the crematory/ finish line; I thought to myself, yes it's confirmed: I am nuts, just like King Archibald and the rest of the others out here. Posting two pics, one of me and Momma Rose, and a mid-race photo of me- I think it's the best pic ever taken of my non-photogenic self!

  3. Excellent report yourself Lani. Much more fact-filled than mine. See you next Saturday. We're talking long. Gettin' ready for Colchester.

  4. I'd agree with your comment! Nice piece of narrative there, Lani. No, you're not nuts, just a dedicated runner under ANY conditions. Speaking of "dedication to running," I feel like I need a kick in the butt. I was looking at the race schedule here and wondered if I might join all (or some) of you in the April 3, Oleksak Lumber Spring Half. Been doing a little more running these days and this would be fun to do again. Any ideas as to who might be joining the crowd that day?

  5. Great pictures here, Lee. The Garmin "movie" is totally cool. I so want one of those, but I need to save. Then again, I could save more. And, Oh, did I mention anything about a plan to save? Getting real now... There is a time and pace (note the spelling) for everything. Time to take it slow -- and wait... and keep on running!
