Back to Brick!

OK Winter. We officially pronounce you Over!

Tray's Brickyard report ...

"Just spoke with the grounds manager, who said he has walked on the Farmington trail and there are a few patches of snow (not deep). He expects it to be gone once this rain passes through. The rain is supposed to end Fri. night."

In celebration, we return to Brickyard this Saturday @ 8 AM for our long runs. Anything from 12 to 20 sounds good to me. We hope all those who are running Collinsville 5.5 or 11 on Sunday and / or preparing for 5K / 5 mile / 1/4 marathon / 13.1 / 26.2 / 50K / 50 mile / 140.6 (yikes!) will take this opportunity to usher in the new 2011 racing season at our very own Brickyard Road!

  1. Pretty good crowd made it this morning! I rolled in @ 7:45 to find Lani and Tray parked and out of sight. Lani tried riding her bike down but changed plans pretty quickly - the Greenway Gods had left a lot more snow on the "macadam" than the grounds manager told us we'd see.

Mary, Barb and, holy cow, Ken Owen arrived shortly thereafter. Heading South we were all greeted by a tightly locked gate at the river bridge. So we turned around. Going North was voted down cuz Lani said the snow cover got worse that way.

Ken, Tracy and Lee decided to venture out toward Route 4, did a couple of miles around the track behind the Farmington Library and then went further North toward Unionville. Good thing Ken was navigating cuz he seems to know the name and relationship of every road in the area.

Will have to wait for Mary, Barb and Lani to tell us how they solved the surface problem.

Lea emailed in to say she'd not make it today, but will be doing a 1/2 next Saturday in West Haven.

Kelsey reports that he's very busy w/ work and church, will definitely be back by April and is giving his running legs a "reset." The cramping he has been experiencing will benefit from taking this break. We look forward to his April return.

So ... on the Collinsville tomorrow. Rose (who didn't make it because she finds herself taking care of birthday parties, grandkids, cooking, etc. etc.), Linda and Lee will carpool it. Ken, Barb, Tray and Lani will be there.

A nice person left a granola bar on my windshield. Perhaps because I was whining about being hungry early on.

And I know who it was. Always thinking of the other person.

    See you tomorrow!

    Lee
