Good showing this morning! We missed Lea but now know from the log that she skipped that important step of actually turning on the alarm so setting the alarm didn't help much! Glad to hear you're fine. And that you will be running today locally and tomorrow long at Brickyard.
Carolyn Lloyd came a little after we took off and told Linda that she's going to build up her miles a bit and join us in a few weeks.
Dave did make it and decided to go real short and give his injury time to strengthen. Barbara went out 4 and back for a total of 8. Mari and Beth went a total of 18. Linda put water, vitamin water, granola bars etc. at the parking lot off Arch Street and all of us stopped twice and rested a bit / drank / ate.
(This is the garage / parking lot area where we took our waterstop break. The Dog Pound Building is up the road, on the right. Thank you Linda. Thank you Google Earth.)
Met a gal who works at Fleet Feet and invited her to run Hogsback. When she and Tray saw the T-shirt and medal, they were both ready to run it. Tray was reminded by the Race Director that she is at the registration table ... I'd like to run it too but think it best to make sure all the jobs get covered and will run long on Monday, the 26th, instead. Sounds like Rose will do her long (22) run the Thursday before Hogsback and will work on the food etc. at Hogsback.
Lea, Mari and Beth will run 7 to 9 early before Hogsback and then run Hogsback. We'll try to have the arrows, signage etc. in place early enough so they will know their way. Would be useful to carry a map of the course in case it's not marked when they start.
The Fall Distance Frolic (10/20/30K) in Stratford on the 18th starts @ 7:30. Lee'll pick Brent up (and Tray? others?) early Sunday morning and head down. I think Mari, Beth and Rose will be running Brickyard on Saturday and won't do the Stratford race the next day.
Great run today. Beth says she saw a countdown sign in New Haven that says 35 days till Hartford! Plenty of time to get that pace just right so that on race day you can meet your goal, whatever it is.
Lee
PS - Beth uses her cell phone to track her runs. Who needs a Garmin?! She gets pace, distance, maps etc. from it!
PPS - However ... Beth, Mari and the Thin Man have yet to log their runs by clicking Sonic The Cat. I thought you all checked that little box on your Brickyarder application form that agreed to do this. This is pretty much unacceptable and ... and ... we're ... very ... You might consider doing this. You would not believe the stuff those who do log are saying about you.
I actually did 10 today - 5 out with the group; then Rose and I turned around at the crossing to Sperry Park and did the 5 back. Thanks to the group and to Rose for helping through the run. Tracy, the schedule of long runs for my first two marathons was: 1) 15, 15, 18, 18, 21, 18, 17, 15, marathon; 2) 17, 17.5, 17, 22, 17.5, 22, 17.5, 10K race, marathon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barb for the long run info. The plan I'm following calls for 16, 18, 20, 15, 20, 22, 15, 12, marathon. Looks somewhat similar -a couple of miles difference here and there. I'm still confused about what to do. For now, I'm just going to stick with the 30K next Sun. and then a 22 miler the following Mon. followed by the taper.
