The fast guys

Mary Almy ran the 5K

Rose ran the 20K - Lee ran it in w/ her

Tray ran the 20K

Brent took Lee and Tray down and Linda took Rose and Jeannette. Mary, who worked all day yesterday and had to head back to work after the race today, drove as well. It was a bit muggy and got into the 80s by the time we were finishing. Mary crossed in about 33 minutes. Barbara Kream ran the 5K and Dave Condit ran the 20K. Brent, Lee, John Courtmanche and Dave Condit all finished very close to each other, averaging about an 8 minute pace. Tray finished in 1:51 and change. Rose crossed around 2:08. We all had fun trying to find each other in the park after the race! The beer line was a mile long. Between all of us we walked away with about 8 loaves of bread.

It was great to see so many friends today.

Ronnie Behringer, Andie Williamson-Hughes, Tom Walsh, Lani Ralston, Catherine Lyons, Kate Stoker, Paul Couzelis, Al Metro, Marty Schaivone, Sherry Duff, John Krasniewicz, Rob Fryer, Larry Chaves, Bob Dacey, Bob Tumiski, Keron Smith

Well done, everybody!

  1. Hey, just looked at the results. What's up with the pace? They calculated it from the time the gun went off, not from the time we crossed the start line? That's useless info. It said preliminary results - will they be more detailed later? If not, I might have to boycott this race!

  2. Unfortunately, the standard these days is to use gun time as the official time. Net time is for a runner's own info', telling her / him what they'll *really* did. But the official time is gun time. This is why starting as near to the start line is the way to go. My approach (be a good minute or so away from the 20K start) is highly unrecommended.

  3. I respectfully disagree. :) This is the only race I've run where they presented the info. like this. It took me a minute and a half to get to the start line. In a race this big, we can't all be at the front - only the elites. who wants their pre-start time figured into their pace? Aaaarrgghh! Alright, I'm done ranting.

  4. You're not alone in your opinion. An exhaustive discussion of this is at
